Sunday in the Park

Experiencing the blossoming spring with friends IS living a beauiful life!

Kindness

I will probably edit this post so those of you luck enough to read it before I do will read a very rough version.

This past week has been a rather rough one. I have be trying to make some pretty major decisions in my life and in the mean time the everyday tasks have been pushed to the side. As a result a pretty important presentation I made failed miserably. It was an upsetting and rather humiliating experience BUT (good lesson learned) the world did not come to an end! And I benefited from someone's great kindness.

Tom McNulty, a great librarian and a teacher I had not given proper credit to, sent me a very kind email after the experience offering me his help and expertise. He went out of his way to offer his sympathy and assistance. And now, because of the 45 minutes he was willing to sacrifice for me, I am back on track.

I want to be more like Tom.

April Showers

They say April showers bring May flowers but this year (THANKFULLY!) April showers are bringing April flowers! I hope these flowers make you as happy as they made me.

California Dreamin'

Last week we had a "reading week" for school so I decided to go to California...and not read! It was a great trip. I saw my beloved voice teacher Mahlon, enjoyed the warm California sun, and just hung out with my mom and dad. I would have been happy as a clam if that was all I did BUT it wasn't! I had the luck opportunity to bask in Beauty!

With the ladies from Generations, we took a trip to Pasadena. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, went to dinner at the Parkway Grill and saw Wicked at the Pantages Theater! It was a great week! I cannot say how much I loved being there. Driving around Pasadena and San Marino for hours was the greatest treat. It definitely made it hard to come back to cold rainy New York.

Easter!

This weekend has been very cold (Not very fun when you want a warm, springy easter) but to counter act the depressing effects of snow in spring I made AMAZING sugar cookies with Sara Sparhawk. It was fun, not only to learn how to make these amazing cookies, but also to spend the day building a new friendship! After making cookies Sara and I decorated them, silk-tie dyed eggs and watched the Sound of Music with her brother Adam (Oh! How I want to be in that show again!). It was a REALLY Good Friday!

Revelation

Today, as I walked to school I pondered what makes a beautiful life. As I passed violet tulips blooming from the base of a tree in the middle of a city side walk I wondered, "Do visions of the picturesque make life beautiful?" And while they are lovely and exciting to behold they are not what make LIFE beautiful. I thought and I wondered and I pondered over what inspired me to resolve to have lead a Beautiful Life. As silly as it may sound it was the move The Holiday. More specifically, it was Kate Winslet's character. She was so beautiful and charming and sought to love and serve everyone around her. Then it dawned on me (I'm a little slo I know!) service and charity are the means through which the greatest Beauty is created.

After a long trek home in the freezing rain, looking for beauty in the nasty weather, I found it on my door step. (Okay, not really on my doorstep, more in the arms of my roommate Juleen) Upon arriving home I found an Easter package from my mother - a Harry & David easter box. I loved it! But more than loving the gift I loved my mom for sending it. She made my Beautiful Day!

Day One

The beauty of receiving my Masters Degree from Sotheby's is getting to go inside the legendary Dakota and receiving a private tour of one of it's apartments.

The Beginning

I have started this blog to fulfill my New Year's resolution to live a Beautiful Life! What is a Beautiful Life you may ask? Well that is what I am trying to find out! And to help me discover this Beautiful Life I am going to look for the little treasures each day holds and post them here on this blog.
